Our story and the journey to the birth of The Muminary.

Our story and the journey to the birth of The Muminary.

Hey there mama's,

Thank you for stopping by The Muminary. I would like to introduce myself and give you an insight into our why and purpose here at The Muminary.

My name is Jade Bird and I am coming to you from the lovely land down under,  Australia.

I am a mother, a wife, a woman on a mission, and a self love coach for mums.

As a first time mum, I had no idea what I was in for and what motherhood truly meant behind the scenes. I watched many movies and seen many mums, but none truly shone the light on the underlying things that happen that we do not see or often hear about. The hormonal changes, the identity shift and acceptance, the changes to our bodies and brains, the intensity of everyday with lack of sleep, healing from the birthing journey, and any outside factors that could be causing added on stress and imbalances in an already imbalanced and stressful time for the body and mind. Not to mention, the depth of postpartum.

I can only truly speak from my story of being welcomed to motherhood as its just that, my story, my experiences, my true feelings, thoughts and emotions. Others have related, but their story is not mine to share.

We as a family had faced an unforeseen circumstance when our son was only 2 months old. This circumstance had out family in two different countries, my son and I going back and forth whilst my husband wasn't able to travel during a 9 month period. During these 9 months I spent time overseas with him from when our son was 2.5 months old and my son and I returned back to Australia when he was 6 months old. During these few months I had developed without noticing anxiety, depression... so i thought that's all it was. I didn't have my support tribe and my other mum friends. I felt isolated and very alone in a new world that already felt lonely as a new mum. When my son and I returned home, I had become very aware that I wasn't ok beyond what I thought was going on, this was a new feeling. I discovered that I had developed a dysregulated nervous system and hyperarousal rage. On a daily basis I felt this deep desire burning sensation and like my nervous system was about to shut down. I felt out of control, but I had to keep myself in check because my son needed a mum who was ok.

I spent months trying to sort myself out without being told I need to go on medications to help me live as this is not how I wanted to live and I was breastfeeding. I use to love the gym, but then developed social anxiety and hated it. I use to love hiking and being in nature, but hated leaving the house. I thought I just needed my husband home and everything will be ok..... boy, wasn't I wrong. I was finally able to let go and truly feel and release what was buried inside. The breakdown was the beginning of the rise, like a phoenix rising from the ashes.

I have friends who own a Gym and Pilates studio near where I live and their team of personal trainers were also friends of mine. These guys always made me feel safe and ok. My cousin who was living with us seen I needed something and she got me a Pilates package. The first step to getting myself doing something that will benefit me... It worked! I felt safe and ok, no panic attacks or social anxiety running me back home. Step one was a success..... giving myself some self love was helpful.

Step two, seeing my PT friend who was also a dad and understood what life was like for a woman transitioning because he was there for his partner. Instantly it felt right and comfortable, I felt safe! We started a 13 week program... step two in the process and commitment made.... Self love on another level felt really good... I was choosing me and doing the work..

Step three, time to unleash and release the rage, the dark feminine... I started doing weekly 1:1 boxing with my friend who owns the gym. He understood where I was at and worked with me to benefit me and not just treat me like another client (that's what I love about this place, they genuinely care).... I started to release the anger and boy it felt good.... Self love in another level of reclaiming my power back from the darkness as I released it and didn't suppress it.

Step four, my mind needed something to focus on, something to make it strong and powerful in the moments I felt like I was about to completely lose myself.... This is where my husbands knowledge and skills came in place, my own knowledge and skills came in place, and this is how The Muminary was born. I brought attention to things most would usually brush off. I know that if you acknowledge something and do the work to release it, you gain back power. Self love in a mental, emotional and spiritual capacity was unlocked on a different level, and oh my, it felt great to reclaim a new version of me.

I also had the help of some natural supplements that helped support what I was needing, the right foods, and cutting back on things when I needed like caffeine. I used the power of Mother Nature to help on my journey as I grounded myself, looked into the beauty of the morning sunshine and absorbed that vitamin D.

I truly dove into the world of being completely ok with giving myself self love without feeling guilty about it, like I was missing out, or like it was am extra chore.

Self Love isn't selfish, it's a necessity! We have to make the time for ourselves in a new world (or older world) as mums who have little humans who need a lot from us, and a family household to run, some even have a career amongst that too. Make the time, even if its 15 mins in the whole day... start small and make it more.

As mother's we are the heart, soul and energy of our families and home. When we operate from a place where our cup is full and operating from that healthy ignited internal love, our families operate from there too. They feel us stronger than we think.

I realised I had something powerful to share with other mums so I trialed The Muminary and the success of it was beautiful. It was the birth of the Cubinary because the kids wanted to do the work too. Even some husbands.

So welcome and thank you for taking the time to learn about our story. We look forward to hearing yours.

Love and growth

Jade Bird xoxo
